I have listened to A LOT of podcasts and have been frustrated with poor sound quality on many occasions. Sometime the problem is that the program hasn’t been recorded in a proper studio space. It’s hard to take a podcast seriously when it sounds like it was recorded in the host’s kitchen.
The other major problem I’ve encountered is too much dynamic range. In other words, some passages are too loud and some are too soft. So, if I turn up the quiet parts enough to hear them, the loud parts–like laughter–come in WAY TOO LOUD! Annoying, especially when listening in a noisy environment like the car.
For your podcast to be clear and audible in all listening environments, it needs to be properly recorded and processed. Contact Rob to discuss recording and/or mixing your podcast at The Cooler. We can also produce any music and ads you need to insert into your program.
